The Pisidia Survey Project

The Pisidia Survey Project (PSP) is an archaeological project, established in the early 1980s by Stephen Mitchell, professor at the Department of Classics & Ancient History at the University of Exeter in England. Since 1998, it has been directed by Lutgarde Vandeput, assistant at the archaeological institute at the University of Cologne in Germany.

The aim of the PSP is to study the remains of urban settlements in this mountainous region in the south of Turkey in order to understand the development of the individual cities and urbanisation processes and evolutions in this inland region, as opposed to the better known coastal areas. We hope to be able to add a study of the development and changes of the rural territories of these cities in the future.
